Tyrese’s “Wildflower” Hits Peak Billboard Top 10 Despite Legal Storm

Tyrese Gibson has been going through so much in his personal life as of late. The headlines and news stories have been saturated with so many details of his divorce and recent detainment that if we’re not careful, we too, will miss the opportunity to stop and smell the roses- or, in this case – the “Wildflower,” that just entered the top ten on Billboard’s Adult R&B airplay chart.

The actor and singer, widely recognized for his roles in the “Fast & Furious” franchise and the recent film “1992,” has seen his latest single “Wildflower,” a cover of  Skylark‘s 1972 hit, off the new ‘Beautiful Pain’ album, soar straight to the number eight spot after entering the Billboard Adult R&B chart only four short weeks ago. This achievement, however, comes at a time when Gibson is entangled in a highly publicized legal battle surrounding  a child support dispute with  ex-wife, Samantha Gibson.

The two share a daughter born in 2018, and have been embroiled in a contentious battle since their divorce filing in 2020. Gibson shared his thoughts on the divorce and the impact it served in creating the album.

“The moment that that divorce paperwork came in, with twenty thousand dollars a month for an 8-month-old attached, I said ‘ok, I got what’s going on now’,” the “Lately” singer explained during an interview with The Breakfast Club.

The reality of a failed marriage led  straight to the studio to create beautiful music stemming from a beautiful pain that Gibson explained, “should belong to everyone else but [him].”

In the face of these challenges, we’re pleased to know Tyrese’s creative output remains undeterred, and  “Wildflower,” is a testament to his ability to channel personal struggles into artistic triumphs.
