The R&B trio, who now performs as a duo after the loss of member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, was scheduled to perform at the New York State Fair, in Syracuse on Friday, August 23. That performance was abruptly canceled when T-Boz fell ill shortly after arriving in New York.
According to a statement released on the group member’s X page, the “Red Light Special” singer “experienced sudden and severe nausea, vomiting and intense abdominal cramps” – all signs and symptoms of what resembled food poisoning.
According to Deadline, T-Boz was seen by a doctor who verified the singer had not suffered food poisoning but, something much more severe – an abdominal blockage.
Both T-Boz and group mate Rozonda “Chili” Thomas were advised to cancel the next show in Connecticut at Foxwoods Resort and Casino under doctors orders.
Fortunately, the 54-year-old is “on the mend” and looking forward to making it up to those fans who didn’t get to see the group perform.
