October London New Album Release, Soulful ‘October Nights’
An October London new album, some hot cocoa, a blanket and the fireplace sounds like the perfect way to welcome in those cool, crisp October nights.
October London New Album: “October Nights” full of Soul
October London is back, and he’s ready to serenade your soul with his highly anticipated sophomore album, October Nights. The album, set to release just a few days after his 38th birthday is already generating buzz with the first two singles. The track, “She Keeps Calling,” co-written by Mike Letter, may serve as the new album’s lead single but the song itself is not that new.
“It’s weird to say, that song is actually three or four years old,” London revealed during an interview with Lenny Green, WBLS “The Quiet Storm” on-air staff. “Me and Snoop did that. …We just put it in the hard drive and was like ‘one day we’re gonna release it’.”
The follow-up single, “A Beautiful Woman,” is another gem set to grace the album’s track list and quite possibly, the top ten list on Billboard’s Adult R&B chart. It would surely fall in line with his past chart-hits like “Back to Your Place” and “Mulholland Drive.” The latter has maintained its spot on the charts for a total of 27 weeks.
Where is October London from? Roots and Inspiration
It’s no secret that the R&B crooner has a gift for writing timeless, beautiful music. However, here was a time when his writing ability wasn’t as successful. The South Bend, Indiana native shared his struggle to find his rhythm and knack for writing during his WBLS interview.
“It was trash work,” London told Green of his song writing ability when he first began writing lyrics at the adolescent age of 15. It wasn’t until he reached 18 and studied how legendary artists like Frankie Beverly and Maze, Luther Vandross, The Isley Brothers and Boney James, “captured the audience with different parts and melodies of a song,” that he was able to hone his craft. His first album, The Rebirth of Marvin, is a testament to his growth and admiration for the legends. Recently, he was awarded the opportunity to work with one.
October London Collaborations
October London’s collaboration with Boney James on the track “All I Want Is You” is another highlight fans eagerly anticipate, especially with Boney James’ album Slow Burn releasing the day after London’s birthday on October 18. October London shared how he manifested this dream collaboration.
“Ive been listening to Boney James since I was a kid,” London told Lenny Green. “My dad always played Boney James in the car, on road trips and stuff like that. So I’ve always been a fan of Boney for a very, very long time. Next thing you know I was just talking about it, I was just speaking it into existence and Boney’s people hit us up. That’s God. All the way.”
London, father to one 7-year-old son, has also worked with Tyrese Gibson, LaToiya Williams and Snoop. The October London new album will include yet another collaboration with label head, Snoop Dogg. During a BET interview London shared how the two have a project in the works to accompany the album.
“We’re working on a show maybe called October nights that can go with the album so that’d be pretty cool,” he revealed.
While you wait on the arrival of the October London new album and the accompanying show you can catch London while he’s on the road for a different show. Ahead of the October London new album he is currently on “The Serenade Tour” with R&B powerhouses Maxwell and Jazmine Sullivan. He’s thrilled to be on the road, connecting with fans and sharing his music with the world. His excitement is palpable as he talks about the tour, and it’s clear that performing live is where he truly shines.
“I’m just most excited about really seeing the fans,” he stated in his WBLS interview. “That’s the best part about it. And I know it may sound kind of cliché, but it really is because, you know, the bigger the audience the more vibe the more energy you get.”
And to think, the world may have heard the soulful vibes and energy of the singer if it weren’t for producer Jazzy Pha.
Recognition and Humility
As the WBLS staff delved into the back story of the October London new album, details of how he got his start were revealed. The 37-year-old shared how he had given up on a music career but, two weeks later his life changed.
“Two weeks before Snoop signed me I was graduating truck driving school, so I was done” he told BET. “I’d given up on music. I wasn’t trying to do anything else. I was like this music stuff isn’t working out for me. I’ma do the nine to five thing. I was about to graduate and then next thing you know I get a call from Snoop.”
The call came years after Snoop was given London’s music from Jazzy Pha. Since the release of his first album London was nominated for Best New Artist at the 2024 BET Awards. Although he didn’t win, losing out to his crush, South African artist Tyla, the nomination itself is a significant milestone in his career. It’s a testament to his growing influence in the Adult R&B genre and his potential for future accolades; especially after R&B fans get their hands on the October London new album.
