The Fugees Tour that ALMOST happened. What Happened?
Okay Refugee Camp. The Fugees are Killing Us Softly with this one. On the heels of a mini reunion performance at the BET Awards with Lauryn Hill and Wyclef, many fans were excited at the thought of a full reunion tour. Then the shocking announcement that it was actually going to happen. They gave us 18 dates with the tour kicking off Friday, August 9, in Tampa, Fla.
Only to be let down with the news that the tour is no more. It’s cancelled. Those who purchased tickets to the early shows began receiving text messages and emails from Live Nation that the show was cancelled, giving no rhyme nor reason as to why. But, luckily they will be fully refunded. Fans began to speculate that the cause of the cancelation must have everything to do with Ms Hill. But Lauryn assured us that she is just as disappointed as are.
In her full statement she said, “With difficulty the decision was made to pull down our upcoming North American tour dates.”
“Performing for my fans is a profound exchange of energy and emotion that excites me every time. Every show is a piece of my expression and testament to our connection and shared love for music. I can assure you that no one is more disappointed about not being able to perform that I am.”
Now her solo tour over in Europe continues unaffected. Ms. Hill’s European leg of the 25th Anniversary of The Mis-Education of Lauryn Hill will kick off Oct. 2 in Dublin Ireland and concludes on Oct. 22.
